- Sangai is state animal of Manipur -

The Sangai deer is highly endangered and found only in Manipur and at the last count there were only 162 left in the Keibul Lamjao National Park. The only floating National park in the world - Keibul Lamjao on the Loktak Lake is the last natural habitat of "Sangai" the dancing deer of Manipur, India.

Due to habitat degradation and human activities, the deer have been extirpated from much of their historical range and now persist only in small, fragmented populations.

The deer is currently listed in Appendix I of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES) and is considered endangered by the World Conservation Union (IUCN).

Please join the campaign and voice for the conservation of this rare and endangered species. Your valuable contribution will help in creating awareness about the need of Sangai Conservation.
